Day 4: Helsinki

We arrived in Helsinki at 09:15, but the hotel check in wasn't until 14:00 so rather than lug the bags around we went to get breakfast in the Cafe Engel in front of the Helsinki Cathedral. The breakfast was very tasty. Thereafter we just hung out at the top of the cathedral steps and people watched. We also had a pomegranate juice from a local vendor at €11, mad I tells ya!

We arrived at the hotel and were a bit concerned as the entire building seemed to be under renovation. We'd also read a review that suggested the hotel booking site was a scam site.

Fortunately it turned out OK. The hotel was on the 5th floor and had only 10 rooms and was quite quaint and retro, each room being like a 1950's bachelor lodgings.

We visited a market with stalls down by the waterfront on pohjoisepandadi. Alex had a nice frankfurter. The market vendors were very genial. We also visited Upenski Catherdral.

We had dinner at a restaurant (Wagi Something or other) on Aleksantrinkatu. We both had quail, it was fine but overpriced.
