Day 6: Helsinki to Tallinn

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

We took a ferry to Tallinn at 10:30 and arrived at 13:30. It is much less comfortable without a cabin, but it was a relatively short trip. We went straight to our hotel (Bern Superior hotel) and were 3 hours early for check-in, but they gave us the room anyways. The room is nice and comfortable.

We walked out of our hotel to the right and through a car park, a little further on we bought an ice cream and sat down on a park bench. It looked okay in this area but not terribly impressive. However as we walked back in the direction from which we had come but on the next street above our hotel's street we started to notice the architectural becoming much more impressive. We were heading towards Tallinn's Old town square, which has a very medieval feel to it and is really gorgeous.

Apparently they still use horse-drawn carriages in Tallin.

Now apparently everywhere has beautiful architecture. First Sweden then Finland and now Estonia.

We found this crumbling Tower on the outskirts of the city

We finally made it to the city center and the architecture of the buildings here looks like Dutch buildings according to Alex.

We found this lovely Bell in the shop near the center, which we bought for mum to put on the Christmas tree.

Towards the end of the day we went to an Indian restaurant next to our hotel called Guru. Ian had the biryani and Alex had the butter chicken. Both were really nice and the total cost was only 45 Euros.

Thank you
